Don’t let lockdown spoil the love this Valentine’s Day!
At Retreat Group we have pulled together some insight and inspiration to help you have the perfect day together and one you’ll remember for all the right reasons! Plus, it falls on a Sunday, so there is ample opportunity to make it extra special!
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, before you go click happy with your online orders of a dozen red roses, personalised greeting cards and quirky gifts that show the ones we love they are extra special, we thought we would share some insight and inspiration for an alternative lockdown valentine celebration!
BREAKFAST IN BED
A traditional classic and one that never fails on Valentine’s Day. Let your partner have a lie in whilst you prepare their favourite breakfast, it’s a good way to get the day off to a great start and you get to enjoy it too. If you have got kids, rope them in too just don’t let them carry the tray up the stairs! Why not write a little note to say I love you or write some special words to make it extra special!
ALL THE REASONS WHY I LOVE YOU
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to cost a fortune. We love inexpensive but truly thoughtful sentiments like this one. Grab a marker pen and a pack of post-it notes, and then its about being creative! Write up your favourite memories, experiences you have shared together or things you love about them. Whatever comes to mind, leave the notes in prominent places along their routine path like the bathroom mirror, toilet roll holder, or on their make-up / toiletry bag. Give them all the reasons you can think of to light up their hearts with warmth and love.
GET UP AND GET OUTSIDE
Maximise your daily exercise allowance and get outside to take a romantic walk together in your local area. Enjoy watching the sunrise or sunset, take a stroll down a road or path you wouldn’t normally take, even get a little lost (don’t get too lost though!), If it’s raining (it’s a possibility!) get those wellies on and huddle together beneath an umbrella, it doesn’t get much more romantic than that? Remember hands, face, space!
A BOOK OF MEMORIES
This one will need a little bit of planning, but why not invest in a mini heart photo book from Papier, it’s a little memory book of your relationship and special times together! Our photo books of family adventures and our time together (pre-kids!) are the most precious thing I have. You’re in lockdown after all, so if you’ve got some time on your hands this could be a very special thoughtful gift for your loved one!
PLAN YOUR NEXT STAYCATION
Why not plan your next staycation for when restrictions lift? Spend the afternoon talking about the places across the UK you’ve always dreamed of visiting and adventures you’d love to go on. Write down some ideas, they don’t have to become a reality, but it could be the first step towards an amazing trip this year or next! Why not book your staycation with us, use promo code VALENTINES10 (valid on all bookings made prior to 28/02/21) and get an extra 10% off your next UK staycation with Retreat Group?
FANCY A GAME?
I think you’d agree this lockdown malarkey continues to be a real challenge, especially if you and your partner are missing the energy of other people right now. After spending the day together, engage in a zoom game of Mr and Mrs (or whichever game suits your relationship) Get the cocktails at the ready, it’s time to challenge your relationships and your friends with some nitty-gritty questions!
A ROMANTIC MOVIE NIGHT
Scroll though the Netflix favourites or pull out your favourite romcom classic, a romantic movie night is a great way to spend Valentine’s Day, so grab a duvet or blanket, dim the lights and snuggle up on the sofa with your favourite chocolate bars, a tasty beverage and big bowl of popcorn for a relaxing and cosy night in together!
