Description

Kinloch is located in a truly idyllic position, a superbly picturesque setting for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful retreat, or a family getaway to explore the Scottish Highlands.

Set in the stunning location of Balnain, on the side of Loch Meikle, approximately 2½ miles from Drumnadrochit and the world-famous Loch Ness.

Kinloch offers 4 bedrooms, accommodating 6 adults and 2 children. There are 2 double bedrooms, a twin room and bunk room. A communal family bathroom along the hall and into the open plan kitchen & living area providing a functional area for guests to eat, chat and relax with stunning views over the garden and the loch. There is also an additional shower room. In the colder months enjoy the warming glow of the log burning stove, a wee dram is optional!

Offering direct access onto the Loch, you can enjoy fishing for Brown Trout and Pike or take a leisurely paddle in your kayak or canoe around the endless waters of Meikle. (Rods and reels plus kayaks and canoes are not provided)

The surrounding countryside offers ample activities for those looking to get out and explore. Perfect for walkers and cyclists with endless miles of forest roads and trails, or for those looking to pursue the plethora of outdoor activities from horse riding to shooting and much more, or just enjoying some relaxing downtime on offer within nearby Drumnadrochit.

Outside you will find a raised deck with dining area and BBQ, perfect for sipping something cold (or warm!) whilst listening to the wildlife. After a hard day exploring, or just because you can, don’t forget to check out the outdoor hot tub, sinking into the bubbles and soaking away with the onward views across Meikle and beyond.

Location

This stunning location is at the side of Loch Meikle, just over 2 miles from Drumnadrochit at the head of Urquhart Bay, on the northern shore of Loch Ness.

The village of Drumnadrochit is popular with Loch Ness monster hunters and provides a great location for exploring the Highlands. The village is surrounded by the glens, Glen Urquhart and Glen Moriston, as well as the Great Glen that reaches across from Inverness in the east to Fort William in the west. The area is rich in things to see and do with activities ranging from exploring Urquhart Castle, a classic romantic ruin jutting out into the loch, horse riding, cycling, cruising the length of Loch Ness and fishing trips.

The largest and best known loch in the Great Glen, Loch Ness is one of the most popular UK holiday destinations and attracts many visitors every year hoping to catch a glimpse of Nessie, the world-famous Loch Ness monster!

Visit the Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition to find out about Loch Ness and the monster that (perhaps) lurks somewhere in its depths! The replica of Nessie may be the closest you get to the real thing, but visitors can also explore the spooky history of the facts and myths of monster hunting at the centre.

Inverness Castle is 14.9 miles from the property, while Caledonian Canal is 14.9 miles away. The nearest airport is Inverness Airport, 24.2 miles from Kinloch Inverness.

We had a great break. The location beautifully peaceful and had a lot to offer with walks (property had an OS map) . Not too far from a village with lots of takeaways and restaurants and shops. Garden was brilliant for dogs safe. We even had a fire at the fire pit. Definitely be back and the hot tub was brilliant. Wanted to stay longer. Ideal for a holiday with dogs the warm hose was very much appreciated for cleaning them off after walks.

We had a fabulous break at this lovely house. The weather was good and we were able to take advantage of the fire pit seating area at the edge of the loch and watch the sunsets. (Thank you for the fizz and shortbread to enjoy too!) The fire pit area is a great idea for guests to enjoy the scenery. The house had everything we needed and there were lots of comfortable spaces to relax inside and out in a beautiful, peaceful area of the country.

My family and I loved staying at this warm, peaceful and inviting home. The views are amazing from the beautiful porch. We enjoyed fishing on the loch while sitting at the fire pit. Thank you for offering your home and being a wonderful host. This will be a great family memory for us. 🩵

Honestly one of the best places I've stayed, fantastic! extra firewood was provided due to the subzero temperatures and when there was an issue with the hottub water going down it was fixed quickly. Thanks again for making this a special stay.

Fabulous house in an idyllic setting next to the loch. The autumn colours were stunning & relaxing in the hot tub after dark was great for listening to wildlife! House itself was cosy with plenty of room for three generations with space to escape to a quiet space if needed! Tesco also delivered to the house so we didn’t need to worry about food shopping! Would love to return in summer to take full advantage of the water 😊
