Description

Rowan Cottage nestles in one of the most idyllic and enviable locations in the Cairngorms National Park.
Offering superb views over the Cairngorms and hugging the edge of a picturesque Lochan you will delight in the peace and tranquillity.
It is a large and luxurious traditional stone cottage and only a couple of miles north of Aviemore.

An excellent holiday choice for a few families holidaying together, or a large group celebrating a special occasion. This spacious cottage will let you explore the great outdoors right from your doorstep and provide the perfect place to relax and unwind after your day exploring.

The cottage sits in its own private grounds with plenty of parking for guests. It is only one of 6 cottages which are dotted around the Lochan. The bright entrance hall leads you off to the well-appointed kitchen where the chef for the night has everything they need and plenty of space to work their magic. The atmospheric dining area is open to the kitchen making it easy for dinner to be served and for the chef to be part of the pre-dinner chat. After dinner, the cosy lounge with open fire offers a relaxing space to swap stories of the day or compete in a friendly game of Scrabble. In the morning you can set yourself up for the day by taking in the tranquil views in the bright and airy breakfast conservatory.

On the ground floor you will find a comfortable double bedroom with en-suite shower room.
Head upstairs and you will discover another double room, a twin room and a family bedroom with en-suite (with 1 double bed & 2 singles), all with gorgeously comfortable mattresses. A family bathroom and shower room upstairs will ensure that no-one needs to queue.

The luxury continues outside onto the patio where you can watch the changing colours of sunset while you sit at the outdoor dining/BBQ area.

And the cherry on top is to sink into the fabulous hot tub and let your troubles drift away.

Location

Avielochan is a special place in the Cairngorms National Park where you will experience peace and tranquility and find yourself amidst some of the best scenery in the Scottish Highlands.
Located 2 miles north of Aviemore Village, beside an idyllic lochan, Avielochan is an idyllic place in which to unwind, relax and enjoy the rural location whilst being within easy reach of shops, restaurants, sports and leisure facilities at the nearby towns and villages:
Aviemore, Boat of Garten, Carrbridge – 3 miles ~ Grantown on Spey – 12 miles ~ Inverness – 30 miles

The Cairngorms National Park is absolutely full of scenic variety and endless natural wonders for you to enjoy. The rare wildlife stronghold of the National park, and a landscape shaped by the ice ages makes this location an exciting and treasure trove of fun to explore.

Ramble across the Cairngorm hills which were formed when the last age covered this country. With the landscapes characterised by high, rounded humps carved through spectacular and deep gorges the variety of geology in the area is truly remarkable. The National park is home to a fantastic array of rare wildlife.

Just over one quarter of Britain's 400+ most rare and endangered wildlife species are protected within the park. If you are lucky (and quiet!) you might spot such species as the osprey, red kite, golden eagle, otter and pine marten, sheltering in amongst the sub-Arctic and mountain plants.

The glens of Isla, Prosen, Clova and Mark are well known destinations for walkers as they are all easily accessible by car. They offer low level walks but also provide access to tougher long distance hikes into the south east section of the park.

As well as the impressive uplands in the area the lochs and rivers in the region are home to some world class salmon fishing, wildlife and habitats making it yet another area not to be missed. The waters offer a variety of scenic delights including gorges, waterfalls and tranquil expanses of streams.

For woodland and forest walks visit Loch an Eilein on the Rothiemurchus Estate in the heart of Caledonian Pine Forest. Or if you are in search of a beach visit Loch Morlich where the sandy expanse proves popular with fisherman and water sports enthusiasts.

Many attractions are connected with the area's history or wildlife and are great places to learn more about the natural wonders that surround you. Whether you have a passion for wildlife, whisky or walking, or simply want to have fun, you will never be short of something new to experience in this wonderful area of The Cairngorms National Park.

Loved Rowan Cottage. Great location by Avielochan and close to Aviemore. Quirky, roomy for a family Christmas. Clean, tidy, warm and comfortable, a home from home. Would definitely stay here again.

I know the area well although it was my first time in this properties location. The property was excellent, everything we needed was provided, there was even tasteful Christmas decoration which really added to the weekend. It’s possible to walk to Aviemore or Boat of Garten through lovely forests but also an easy drive if that’s preferred. Local taxis know the house so using them for a night out was easy.

Cracking cottage in a great location. Far enough of the grid where it is very peaceful but close enough to get into Aviemore or other local attraction. We visited for a families 60th birthday and everybody had a great time.
